2023 Reunion

The Reunion that had been planned for May 2020 finally took place at Hahndorf S.A. in May 2023, 5 years since the last. We were blessed with beautiful Autumn weather (albeit cold in the mornings), fabulous friendship, some teary remembrances and good times all round! On behalf of all of us, thank you Lloyd Anderson for organising everything so very well! We are looking forward to our next reunion in 2025!

2020 Reunion postponed

COVID-19 has played havoc with our plans for a reunion and we postponed the reunion originally planned for 2020 until 2021, then 2022 and finally to 2023.

2016 Reunion

Our 2016 Reunion was held during Anzac Week in Townsville QLD, which is the home of 3RAR at Lavarack Barracks. It was voted a great success with accolades and thanks to this year’s organisers Ken and Colleen McGowan.

Why do we reunite?

“I now know why men who have been to war yearn to reunite.  Not to tell stories or look at old pictures.  Not to laugh or weep.  Comrades gather because they long to be with the men who once acted at their best;  men who suffered and sacrificed together, who were stripped of their humanity.  I did not pick these men.  They were delivered by fate and the military.  But I know them in a way I know no other men.

“I have never given anyone such trust.  They were willing to guard something more precious than my life.  They would have carried my reputation, the memory of me.  It was part of the bargain we all made, the reason we were so willing to die for one another.  As long as I have memory, I will think of them all, every day.  I am sure that when I leave this world, my last thought will be of my family and my comrades … Such good men.”

About Us

This website is for all those who served with 3RAR C Coy in Vietnam in 1967 – 1968 and their families and friends.

Our main purpose is to bring members and their partners / families together every two years for remembrance and fellowship and to keep connections alive in between. Contact us if you would like to join or if you have information or pictures you would like us to include on this website.

The first reunion was held in Sydney in 1992 and reunions have been hosted by members in a different location in Australia each three then two years since. In April 2016 the reunion took place at the home of 3RAR in Townsville QLD. Our next reunion will be held in June or July 2018 in Darwin.

Please explore this site to find information and pictures about our history in Vietnam, updates about our members and information about previous and upcoming reunions. Check the news pages regularly to get the latest.  And check in on our funnies from time to time at our On a Lighter Note page.
